The Dead and the Dying

Here's a significant death that you may have missed: Gyorgy Ligeti

Also, my mom pointed out to me a neat fact: this Sunday, June 18, Paul McCartney will turn 64. If you are of a certain frame of mind, you may already contemplate the passage of time, aging, death (as well as irony perhaps) all of the time, but here is an interesting instance where popular culture may compel those who don't, to pause and reflect. Go and listen to "When I'm 64" on Sunday and we'll all have 'a moment' together.

so, me, Graeme, Sarah and Kerry were walking through Trinity Bellwoods, nursing exactly 5 brutal hangovers and rapping our careful and nostalgic way through what I think was a really terrific version of "Ice, Ice Baby", when we were accosted by these earnest CBC people. They forced us to sing the first verse of "when i'm 64", and to answer questions about Paul McCartney.

One of the questions was: "is 64 sexy?"

What do you think, Scaught?

'Accosted' is probably exactly the right word. Never answer questions in those 'man on the street' situations. You just know they'll cut it together to somehow make you loke like an ass on national tv.

It's sexier than 69, which is just way too obvious, but not as sexy as 666, which just never gets old. Hail Satan again! (*I'm doing the thing where you put your hand up in the air with the index and pinky fingers raised*)

um, "it's sexier than 65" was my answer. I guess it WAS obvious. I didn't think about satan there; I guess that's more your thing. That's just how you roll.

Now that you "raise" it, I've got a little question about the "thing where you [...]pinky fingers raised"...is it rock'n'roll when you add the thumb, or is it always satan and rock'n'roll rolled into the same gesture. I'm never sure, which makes all the more fun, but it's time to grow up. The truth will set me free: Help a girl out here.
